Once removed, it will probably take 12 to 18 months to boost your credit. stan c

If a derogatory item (regardless of charge off, public record, or late payment) is removed from any of the three credit bureaus, your score will increase; it does generally take 30 days to reflect with the credit bureaus. Make sure you retain a copy of the proof letter in case the item ever re-reports to the bureaus. Good luck! Jennifer B

The key is to not assume a negative entry will drop off your credit report automatically. Always follow up. That’s why it is important to obtain a copy of your report once if not twice a year. If there is any outdated,or erroneus info you can file a dispute with the credit bureau. I recently disputed a item,it was removed and my score went up 29 points in a month. Make sure you keep the letter the bureau sends you as proof of the item being removed. Also, beware of companies selling your debt to another agent,it may reappear under a different creditor name. Good luck T J
