kaley asked: I am trying to raise my credit score quickly. Right now I am at 593-around 650 depending on agency. So, by paying off the 5 credit cards that I currently have(some with amounts ranging from 1,500-2,500), should that raise my credit score a great deal? If not, will a credit repair company help or are they just a scam?

julieann asked: I have a low credit score. Most my bad credit is old credit. I have a bunch of little loans from finance companies, but they charge really high interest rates. I would like to get a loan for about $5000 to $6000 to pay these off and have one payment that would be lower.

rwallis2001 asked: Is there any hope for my husband and I to buy a house with bad credit? We have terrible credit because of our past. Any bills that we have accumulated since we decided to grow up has been paid, but we haven’t paid any of our old bills. We went to a credit counseling agency and they said that we owe so much money that it would be best for us to just file bankruptcy. We’re afraid that doing that would really keep us from owning our own home one day. I have a credit score of five hundred and something. We are tired of renting. Please help!

great_and_mighty_adam_levine asked: Basically, how current is the credit agencies records?
Under normal conditions, my credit utilizaiton varies wildly.
When applying for credit, I generally want 10-20% credit utilization. I can make that happen, but I wanted to know:
How long after I make it 10-20% should I apply for credit?
How long do I need to hold my credit utilization at 10-20%?

salena asked: I want to get a frequent flyer credit card but I already have 3 credit cards with generous limits. I don’t need these credit cards and I would like to cancel them and have this “possible credit” to go towards the new card. I heard once that canceling a credit card has a negitive effect on your credit score. Is this true? If so, how do I switch credit cards and avoid affecting my credit score in a bad way?

bluetsuki32 asked: I have a few store credit cards (Macy’s, Banana Republic, etc) in addition to a major credit card. I want to cancel some of the store credit card, but I don’t know how that effects my credit rating. I think closing credit cards in general lowers credit scores, but what about those store cards?

If there is, what is it, and additionally, if someone with capable credit starts a corporation, can someone with bad credit be named as a partner and or trustee that can utilize and control the financial aspects of the company along with the president of the co.?

lilo asked: I have a relatively bad credit, credit cards in college, delinquent payments, etc, but I am on track to getting everything squared away. My total amount in debt is less than $5000 but I recently checked my credit score and it wasn’t that great. I hope to enlist into the Army next summer and was wondering if my bad credit score disqualify me from enlisting. Any information would help. Thank you.
