Jess T asked: Hi,
Im just after a straightforward answer to my question, if there is one:
What looks worse on your credit record, a default on a couple of credit cards, that have been paid off over 2years since the default, or several late payments and arrears on credit cards (im talking upwards of 10) but since that blip, all payments made on time for the next 2 years
Thanks for all your help

Casey asked: Hi. I recently just got my first credit card ever and used it to make a $1600 purchase. The credit limit is $3000, so obviously I’m over 50% of the balance, and I just learned that’s bad for credit scores. I expect to be able to pay off the purchase in the next two or three months. Will my credit score go back up immediately after I get the balance on my card down, or will it take a while? Thanks.

Sara asked: I went 300 dollars overdrawn because i had a medical emergency. now with all the penalty charges i’ll need 750 dollars just to get to zero. i’ll be able to do it, but it may take up to 6 weeks to get all the money to put in my account. I have ok credit and i really don’t want to have bad credit because of this.

Girl asked: The only credit I have been building is by paying off a credit card bill and I have missed a few payments, but I almost have it paid off and now I am looking to take out a housing loan. How can I go about checking to see if I have good credit or bad credit?
Is there a web site where I can check it for free without having to secure a billing address with a credit card and all that stuff.

dara91562 asked: My husband and I need to refinance our home to lower our monthly payments. We are paying 9% right now. We both have bad credit. About 4 years ago we started getting behind and couldn’t make credit card payments. It was either pay them or pay our house payment. So I just didn’t pay them. We also have some unpaid medical bills that our insurance didn’t cover after the birth of our daughter. The creditors are always on our backs. In May we will be eligible to refinance our home (we had a prepayment penalty clause in our mortgage agreement). What chance do we have of getting a lower interest rate and lower monthly payments? Any help is greatly appreciated!
