How effective are Credit Repair Services?
big_burner asked:
I have bad credit right now (around 540), and I am trying to fix it. I was wondering if the Credit Repair Services are any good? Also, do you have a recommendation for one that is trusted and worth the money?

They will charge you fees (possibly thousands) for something you can easily do yourself.
Get yourself a book at your bookstore on Credit / Debt Repair.
All the tricks are there - it’s common knowledge how to fix credit.
They teach you how to negotiate, settle, set up payments, and how to do the pay on delete correctly.
You can save a whole heck of a lot of money by negotiating if you do it right.
This book could be worth it’s weight in gold for you.

Most credit repair services are pure scam. Save your money. There is no way to remove legitimate derogatory items from your credit report. You just have to wait out the 7 year reporting period.
Even if you do get a legit item removed, it is very likely to show back up the next time the creditor updates or if the debt is sold to another collection agency. bdancer222

Not at all
You don’t need them
Call all your creditors and tell them that you re on hard times but you will be paying every week or month so much IE 20,50 etc. Dollars until account is paid.Say a polite thank you stick to the promised paymentt and there you are your own account adviser.
I got out of a 25000 dollar by doing this way and my credit record is spotless.
Good luck

I agree with Judy. It elemental. Live within your means. If you need someone to talk to your creditors, why would they ever want to deal with you? mildred f

Hi -
The fact is there’s no quick fix for creditworthiness. You can improve your credit report legitimately, but it takes time, a conscious effort, and sticking to a personal debt repayment plan. Jason Alexander

All credit repair business are in it to make money, they could care less about you and your credit. There is only one way to clean up your credit and that is it works more to earn more money and spend less money so that you can pay off your debt. So earn more, spend less. Very simple, stays clear of those companies and take responsibility for yourself. Thunderwave
