    The way you typed the problem is unclear to me. Please repost this question and make the problem a little bit easier to understand if you’d like help! The Scarlet Pumpernickel

  2. whatever comes Says:

    so the LCD is (4x^2 - 1) right? that’ll be the denominator for the fraction on the left. using that LCD as the new denominator, let’s simplify the new numerator….

    (2x + 1) (x + 2) + (2x - 1) (5x), so
    (2x^2 + 5x + 2) + (10x^2 - 5x), then combine similar terms,
    12x^2 + 2 —> the new numerator.

    now let’s put the whole thing together:

    12x^2 + 2
    ________ = -2 , then cross-multiply the denominator

    4x^2 - 1

    12x^2 + 2 = -8x^2 + 2, then combine similar terms again
    20x^2 = 0, so
    x = 0

    please double-check everything. at least now you get the basic steps in solving this problem. hope i’ve helped you understand how to do this in the future. whatever comes
